I Made a comic book

Here’s my t-shirt design for the Adventure Time t-shirt contest. I’m not really expecting much, but hey, anything’s possible. I think people can vote for it somehow, I’m not sure.

I don’t normally try to make my characters appear beautiful. In fact, normally I consciously try to make the people I draw weird, abnormal, or gross in some way.
There are a couple of reasons for this. For one, I think ‘ugly’ characters are more expressive, and easier to identify with, because a person’s imperfections are what makes him interesting.
The other reason I tend to shy away from beauty, especially when drawing women, is to avoid sexualization. I have nothing but respect for people who can competently illustrate the female body, but if sexuality becomes too overt, it can distract from the character itself.
Anyway, here is an attempt to draw beauty, hopefully without oversexualization.
